This book aims to explain renal medicine in straightforward practical terms to clinicians who have no experience of practising in the discipline and no easy access to renal specialists for discussion. Rare conditions are avoided except to illustrate principles or to indicate where urgent expert advice should be sought. Emphasis is placed on topics in which the average general physician is inexperienced and overviews of renal nursing and common surgical conditions of the renal tract are also included. Prominent attention is paid to radiological and laboratory support, both vital in renal medicine.
